This event will consist of a panel discussion and Q&A with three local activists: Manuchehr Maleki Dizaji (Iran), Maria Vasquez-Aguilar (Chile) and Boucka Koffi (Afrika).

The session will explore the complexity, resonances and value of their contribution to the fight for freedom here in the UK.

On the 14th of August 2024, VVIDY alongside other Solidarity Knows No Borders (SKNB) Yorkshire organisations presented a demand letter calling for the immediate suspension of immigration reporting to Vulcan House, Home Office.

This was part of the Abolish Reporting Campaign, led by Migrants Organise, to suspend reporting due to the unsafety for migrants in the UK. Find out more about the campaign here.

A group of organisations marched down to Vulcan House from Sheffield City Hall to present the letter to Home Office staff, who eventually took the letter and have returned our correspondence. We hope this can reinvigorate dialogue between migrant justice groups and the Home Office.

We then gave speeches and chants to the Home Office to highlight the importance of our demands given the rise in fascist attacks on migrants.
